"Weather as a force multiplier: Owning the weather in 2025"
This is a research paper, commissioned by the Department of Defense and presented to the Navy. In it, the authors predict that by 2025 “weather-modification” will be a part of national security and war technologies; demonstrating that “weather modification can provide battlespace dominance to a degree never before imagined.” It is complete with imagined future scenarios. (I found this while reading Peter Sloterdijk’s _Terror from the air_). Link: http://csat.au.af.mil/2025/volume3/vol3ch15.pdf
Automobile air conditioning
In class on 1/27 the question about the introduction and growth of air conditioning in cars was raised, to which Marsha Ackerman in the introduction to _Cool comfort_ responds: “Just 10 percent of automobiles in 1966 came out of the factory with air-conditioning; that figure exceeded 98 percent in 2000” (p. 6).
